Who is Craig Darlow?

I ♥ Business

I have been fortunate to be exposed to a variety of industries and opportunities as a sales and marketing professional for over a dozen years. I opened and managed a regional sales office for a manufacturing technology company and helped to develop sales & marketing strategies for several start-up and early stage companies. In addition to my “on-the-job” training, I received an MBA from Kellogg School of Management with concentrations in Marketing, Business Strategy, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. I have also taught a course in Business Marketing  as an adjunct professor. For the past few years I have been helping to operate my family’s wholesale apparel business and recently launched a spin-off online retail store: CozyCoverz.com. At the same time, I am a technology and marketing consultant to small businesses.

I ♥ Technology

My passion for technology began when I was a child playing with magnets and it grew over the years. As a geeky middle school student I programmed software on an Apple IIc, then I built an electric car as a mechanical engineering undergraduate, and as an enthusiastic young salesman I demonstrated 3D measurement and prototyping devices. Throughout my career in sales and marketing, I’ve particularly enjoyed developing and utilizing technologies that help businesses operate more efficiently and people work more effectively. Technology should enhance a business, not burden it. No matter how sophisticated technology tools become, they will only provide value when utilized as part of sound organizational processes. I try to help businesses choose and implement existing, proven technology tools that are the right fit for their particular business based on the companies’ needs and goals.  I implement  software applications for sales force automation (SFA) and customer relationship management (CRM),  develop web and  e-commerce strategy, and provided coaching and training to managers, sales staff, and customer service personnel.

Because I get many business-related (and non-business-related) technology questions from colleagues, clients, friends and family (sometimes late at night) I started this blog to hopefully share helpful tips and resources. If you have a question, drop me a note and I’ll try to answer it here on my blog.

I ♥ Other Stuff

While I enjoy business and technology, I try to make time for my other personal interests including guitar, volleyball, ketchup, and most of all spending time with my wife and two spirited daughters.
